How GPA actually works
- A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.
- Multiply each grade by the course's credit hours, add them, divide by total credit hours.
- Example: A in 3 credits (12) + B in 4 credits (12) = 24 ÷ 7 credits = 3.43 GPA.
- 3.5+ opens scholarships and honors; below 2.0 risks academic probation and aid loss.
The study system
- Active recall: close the book and write what you remember. Rereading is not studying.
- Spaced repetition: review at day 1, 3, 7 and 21 instead of cramming.
- Two 25-minute focus blocks beat three distracted hours.
- Teach the concept out loud — if you can't, you don't know it yet.
Protect the grade
- Read the syllabus in week one and put every due date in one calendar.
- Know the withdrawal deadline — a W beats an F on your transcript.
- Use free tutoring and office hours; they are already paid for by tuition.
